Larry Gates started Gates Concrete & Construction as a “backyard” business with one employee in 1990. Almost entirely through word of mouth, his clientele has grown over the years. In the Summer of 2007, Larry built an office close to the Johnston County Airport to house Gates Concrete. It was his love of flying that attracted him to the outskirts of the airport. He spends his spare time hunting, fishing and flying with his two sons, Jesse and Seth.
